to permit the necessary precision. An exclusive engraving technique for which Wetzel holds the patent is employed which gives rise to no additional stresses on the surface of the rollers.
In 1923, Walter Wetzel had the pioneering idea of producing an engraved steel roller. Its success established his business in the printing and embossing sector. Later, the company developed its own methods for the manufacture of letterpress and rotogravure cylinders and embossing rollers,
continually extending its product range. The company became active in many branches of industry, also developing the market for industrial engraving. The primary objective of Wetzel is to offer all production stages – from the design phase to the finished roller – from a single source.
